the SixTwoSeven story
"illfunk" has been creating music of every genre since childhood, originally earning himself the nickname "illfunk" as a teenager due to his amazing free style rhyme flow. "illfunk" joined his brother and bandmates shortly after graduating high school in 1996, to form the alternative punk band 5 Hoss Cartwrights. 5HC released their full length album "Bashitout" in 1998, and celebrated that release with a tour of the Northwest area with local cult alt-punk legends Nomeansno of Vancouver, Canada.
After parting ways "illfunk" went on to perfect his rhyme flow, appearing on KJR Sports Radio 950 in the afternoons weekly for a "rap segment" of current events in local sports. In addition to weekly recorded performances, "illfunk" could be heard spitting his game live at the Seattle Seahawks Charity Auction at Anthony's in Seattle after the 2005 Super Bowl appearance. illfunk and MC MD continued to collaborate on a Hip Hop - Gangsta - Rap parody project titled "Honorable Thugs". "illfunk" most recently appeared on the KISS 106.1 Bender and Molly morning show as a surprise constant for the "Win a Date with Kat Fisher" promotion for their "Fall Ball" concert in November of 2015.
'illfunk" began recording what was to be a solo project SixTwoSeven in mid 2011. He lives in Gig Harbor Washington with his Dog Lyra Marie and his daughter Amiah. His son Blaeklee is following in his footsteps and is the front man for his own Death Core band based out of Greeley Colorado. He enlisted some friends in his quest to restore Rock and Roll to it's original greatness.
On Drums we have Dave Cook - AKA - (DC or Sfinger). Originally from California, Dave still has a rich history of playing music in the Seattle/Kitsap region over the years (Bi-Polar), and his ties to SixTwoSeven and illfunk go back a long ways. We are excited to have all of Dave talents on board, as he is an amazing videographer, artist, and also a bad ass on the sticks. Couldn't be happier about this evolution (even though we just can't seem to agree on the shape of the earth, lol).
On Bass we have, you guessed it, Mike Knapp -AKA - (MK Ultra), from Knapptime Productions fame and Bitter. Makes sense doesn't it? He was the original DubSeven believer and has been lending his producing skills, and all his many otherworldly talents since we took this thing public January 8th. Mike has know illfunk for well over 25 years, so why not have him play the bass right? After all, he has mad skills, he is a creative genius, a great dude, he can sing, and he lives right up the street. Search ended.
Last but certainly not least, we have illfunk's very own brother - Jason Bilderback - AKA -(J Danger), all the way from Austin Texas playing Rhythm/Lead Guitars (with his little brother for the first time since Five Hoss Cartwrights), while still maintaining his role as the bass player for the legendary Austin / San Marcos blues-rock trio Drive On Mak. Jason's unusual playing style and high energy live performances ensure your ear drums will be ringing and your head will be spinning after witnessing a live SixTwoSeven set.
Matt Bilderback - AKA - (the Machine), from Bellingham, WA another brother of the funk himself, the Machcine gets down on the keyboards and backup vocals. Matt's gorgeous voice is the perfect polish to SsixTwoSevens appeal. You think you cant wait? Imagine how we feel ;)
